Here is a list of known emigrants from my database:

or

Helena Bragazzi

Helena was born in 1879 and was also known as Lena. We know that on 3rd Dec 1913 she travelled as a maid to a family called Wood to Toronto via New York on a ship called the Olympic. It is not known whether this was her only trip across the Pond but family rumour has it that she may have married either onboard ship or abroad.  We also know that her daughter Dorothy Bragazzi followed her to Toronto and was married there.  We think Lena may have ended her days drowning in the bath somewhere in the US or Canada.

American Descendants of William Bowey and Eleanor Shepherd

William Bowey was born in 1837 in Houghton-Le-Spring, Co Durham. He married Eleanor Shepherd in Newcastle in 1858. In 1910 William passed away in South Carolina. The couple had a number of children who accompanied them to the US. We know that their son Charles Frederick Bowey made a transatlantic trip in 1915 on the St Paul and is recorded as being a US citizen resident in South Carolina. His brothers Richard Wilson Bowey and William Alfred Bowey joined him and applied for US citizenship in 1882 and 1885 respectively.

Australian Descendants of Matthew Benjamin Bowey

One of the children of Matthew Benjamin Bowey & Emily Hall emigrated ‘down under’ and served in the Australian Army in WW2.  He may have family still there.  As this individual may still be living please e-mail me to discuss.

Canadian Descendants of John Henry Danby/ American Descendants of Septimus Danby

Thanks to my cousin Russell Jones in the States we do know that Septimus Danby (born 1877 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne) and wife Jane emigrated to Canada and later moved to the US.  Brother John Henry Danby also moved to Canada at some point, probably early in the C20th and his descendants are still living there.

Danby Descendants (Pursell) in Australia

Frederick Augustus Pursell born 1880 and descended from Elizabeth Danby, emigrated to the sunnier side of the world with his wife Blanch Dennis and their children in the first quarter of the 20th Century.  His descendants are still living in there.

Hartley or Embleton in New Zealand

Descendants of Charlotte Mills and a guy called Embleton are believed to have lived either temporarily or permanently in New Zealand and could have family still living there. As these persons could potentially still be living, please contact me by e-mail to discuss.

Descendants of Louisa Mills and Thomas Ward

Frances Louisa Mills (otherwise known as Louisa) was born in 1882 in Craghead Co Durham and married Thomas Ward sometime before 1901. They were still in the UK at that point but later they went to live in Canada and some of their children were born there.

Descendants of Matilda Freeman and Elijah Stannard

Matilda Freeman was born about 1895 in Distington, Cumberland. One of her daughters, surnamed Stannard, is believed to have lived in Newfoundland with her husband and children, some of whom may still be there.
