Facts and family tales : Juliano is believed to
have been born in the tiny village of Stazzona on the Italian boarder with
Austria. He may have left, like
many other young men of his generation, to avoid conscription into
Napoleon’s army. For a
hypothesis on his pedigree click here. Juliano’s business in Newcastle was burned out twice over. Juliano was a convert to
the Church of England on his marriage to Elizabeth Howe. Apparently his family never spoke to
him again. Ironically, his grand
daughter Dorothy Bowey was later a convert to Catholicism on her marriage to |
