Fact and family tales:

According to a newspaper article in which his son Septimus chronicles his life, Benjamin owned a butcher’s shop in The Close, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.  The Danbys had, of course been in the butchering trade in the area since the family moved to Newcastle from Northallerton in the first quarter of the C19.  Benjamin and his siblings were born in the aptly named Butcher’s Bank!
